HIKUBANGI CLUB FIXTURES. HALF DAY TOURNEY. The full rink afternoon tourney promoted by the' Hilknrangi Club on Thursday last was very successful, ten rinks taking part, five of these being visiting teams from Kensington and Whangarci Clubs, The green was in good order and the play throughout was of a high standard. The visiting skips, Armstrong, of Whangarei, and Pearce, Kensington, tied with three wins. In the final, of 7 heads, Armstrung proved too good' for Pearce, winning by 8 to 3. The personnel of the -finalists was:—iWhangaroi: Walker, Everett, Bitch and Armstrong (s'). Kensington: Cliff, Nield, Simons and Pearce (s), Mr A. M. G. Ward, president of the local club, presented the winners with suitable trophies and congratulated them On their meritorious win over the strong team of veterans which Pearce had with him.
EASTER, TOURNAMENT. The success of the Ilikurangi Club ’s Easter gathering on March 29 and 30, and April 1 is assured. Entries from as far south as Te Kuiti, Huntly and Otalmhu have been received, whilst those from clubs affiliated to the Northern Centre comprise Dargaville, Maungatnroto, Waipu, Portland, Kensington, Whangarci, Kawakawa and Kaikohe. The entrants are guaranteed seven games of 21 heads, three being played on each of the first two days and one on the last day. Two sections will fight out their battles on the Whangarci green, which that club has again kindly placed at the disposal of the local club. Mr W. Hurle has undertaken to once more manage the Whangarei end of the tourney, and his action is very much appreciated by thy Hikurangi Club. The good office of the Dominion Meteorologist. has boon invoked with a view to ordering splendid weather which fortunately attended the local club’s tourney- in its last four annual gatherings.
