FROZEN FOODSTUFFS
NEW RAPID PROCESS. (Australian Press Association.) (Received 10.30 a.m.) •NEW YORK, March 12. A representative of the United Press Association interviewed Clarence Birdseye, of Gloucester, Massachusetts, who is experimenting with a new meat freezing process whereby thb tastcfulness and pleasing appearance of the product would only be slightly impaired. It is definitely pointed out, however, that the new process is still in its economic infancy and has not yet been applied to any great extent commercially except with fish, fowls, and similar meats. Beef has not yet been experimented with to any extent. "Sharp freezing” is the name generally applied hero to Mr Birdseye’s experiment, and it is claimed that he has invented a device for quickly freezing moat in a temperature froth 40 to 50 degrees below zero.
