TUTANEKAI’S MISSION
CRUISE AMONG ISLANDS. VICE-REGAL PARTY : ABOARD. The Tutanekai, w r ith Lady Alice Fergussou and party on board, arrived at Onehunga yesterday afternoon, after a cruise in Northern -waters. The Government steamer is engaged on her periodic survey of the lights on the Northern Peninsula, and Lady Alice and her party seized the opportunity of spending a very pleasant holiday. The party, comprising Lady Alice Fergusson, the Countess Metaxa, Mrs Dugdale, Captain Orr-Ewlng, Mr A. Whitcombe and Mr W. Fraser, engineer to the Whangarei Harbour Board, joined the Tutanekai at Auckland on December 8, and called at the Great Barrier, the Hen and Chickens Islands, Poor Knights Islands and Cape Brett, arriving at the Three Kings Islands last Wednesday. The party w r as landed at the Three Kings and camped there for three days, while the Tutanekai tended the several lights in the vicinity. The campers rejoined the vessel on Saturday and steamed for Kaipara. Monday night w T as spent at Pouto, at the entrance to Kaipara Harbour, and the Tutanekai visited Dargaville on Tuesday.
