MAMARI SENSATION
ENCOUNTER WITH ICEBERG,

JPhe steamer Mamari has arrived with her bows crumpled and bent as the result of a collision with an iceberg on August i2B.
Huge gaps below the waterline were patched up with balks of timber ana bands of steel. The bulkhead hold, and thus averted disaster.
Seamen say that the iccfficrg was not seen until it loomed up, nearly 300 feet high, black as night./ ' ‘Th* ship, struck it head on, toppling d over.-—A. and N.Z.
