AUCKLAND EDUCATION BOARD
NOTHERN AFFAIRS.
The fortnightly meeting of the Auckland Education Board was held yesterday. Included iu the business transacted the following is of local interest. Miss W. Hart, B.A. was appointed to Warkworth District High School.
Inquiry is to be held re the expulsion of a pupil from the Otonga school. Mr J. D. McKenzie and the Advisory Inspector were instructed to look into: this matter and also to investigate a complaint against the teacher’s action in altering the teaching arrangements of the OtongaOpuawhanga half-time schools. Application was made for the constitution of a new school district at Marlow, which has been under the jurisdiction of Maromaku. Mr McKenzie is to report on. this, and also as to the erection of a new school building.
On condition that they pay the usual royalty, Messrs Mason were given permission to remove from the school property at Whangarci Heads, 500 yards of stone, for the use of the Whangarei Borough Council. The Department of Education informed the Board that a grant for the erection of a school building at Pungarei had been made. Owing to the attendance at the Whau Valley school promising to be i2O, it was resolved to advertise for a teacher for a school of that grade, instead of a 100 grade as previously decided upon. .The Board has been endeavouring to extend the usefulness of the Dental Clinic. In this connection it is hoped that an officer of the Department will attend the next meeting of the board. The annual meeting of householders to elect school committees will be held on April 26.
