HOLIDAY PAY.
AN IMPORTANT DECISION. CHRISTCHUKCH, This Day. A reserved judgment in a case of importance has been given by Mr S. E. McCarthy. S.M. Several employees of the Canterbury Publishing Company claimed extra wages for working on Anniversary Day. In his judgment the Magistrate a-ad that, extra pay was only to be paid if Anniversary Day was observed as a general holiday. Last Anniversary Day was not so observed A majority of those engaged in the job printing trade in Ohristchurch observed shaw day in lieu of Anniversary Day. He therefore gave judgment for the company, with costs. Counsel for the plair tiffs was grant-' ed leave to appeal.—Press Asm.
