KAMO TOWN BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING,

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Kamo Town Board was held last Tuesday evening. Present —Messrs Jounneaux (chairman), Hoey, Taylor, Mclnnes and Wakelin. . PUBLIC HEALTH. Communications from the Department of Public Health re sewage systems were received; also from the same department offering the services of a qualified sanitary inspector for the sum of £6 per annum under the Health Act, coining into operation in the New Year. The offer was accepted. PADDOCKING. J. J. Thorburn made application for use of the cemetery paddock from date to September 1, 1921, at a rental of £1 —Granted, subject to the fences being put and kept in repair by applicant. DOMAIN RESERVE. Some discussion took place on the attitude of the Crown Lands Department asid the Whangarei County Council regarding the Board's application for control of the Te Pua domain reserve, and it was resolved that a deputation wait on the County Council to explain in detail the Board's action and to urge co-operation. DOG TAX. The dog tax was fixed at 2s <3d per head for dogs used solely for herding and droving cattle and 5s for all others, and Mr J. J. Thorburn was authorised as collector of same. LIBRARY. The customary annual donation of £5 to the Kamo Public Library was authorised. AUCTIONEERS' LICENSES. In view of the largo amount of business done in Kamo by the stock auctioneering firms and the damage done to, and consequent heavy expenditure on roads and footpaths by cattle travelling to and from the sale yards, it was resolved on the motion of Messrs Mclnnes and Taylor that the firms in question be asked to take out their licenses this year with the Kamo Town Board. SURFACEMAN'S REPORT. . It was resolved that the surfaceman be asked to send in a monthly report, covering work done, necessary, and suggested. MELDRUM STREET. The necessary work to be done in Meldrum street -was left in the hands of Messrs Mclnnes and Taylor, with power to'act. CONCRETE TROUGH. Mr Hoey was appointed to interview the local concrete firms re making a trough to replace the worn-out wooden one at the town pump. SUPERVISOR. Mr Taylor was appointed supervisor for the current month. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £48 15s 6d were passed for payment.
