MARTENS TO BE DEPORTED.
SELF-STYLED AMBASSADOR,
WASHINGTON, Dec. 17,
The Government has ordered the socalled Soviet Ambassador, Martens, to be deported on the grounds that he is affiliated with an organisation seeking the overthrow of the United States Government by force and violence. The order is the outcome of embarrassments suffered by the Government through Martens' activities in attempting to negotiate commercial contracts here for delivery of supplies to Russia.—A. and N.Z.
