CHANGE ALLEGEDLY WITHHELD.
COMMITTED FOR TRIAL.
AUCKAND, This Day. In the Police Court Richard Quinn and James Albert' North were charged with stealing £4 from Harry Hayr, r part-owner of the totaliaator at Avondale races on October 2.
Evidence was given that Quinn -was a ticket-seller at a. 10s window" and that Nonth was stamper for Quinn. Quinn was asked if the cash', were correct and replied "Yes." He denied having witheld change from a £5 note tendered by a man in-.pay- " ment for two 10s tickets. North was sitting close to Quinn when the latter was questioned, but did not speak. " ;' :
. Detective-Sergeant Ward gave evidence of Slaving obtained two 10s tickets from North. H e tendered £5 and waited for the change, but none was tendered and witness walked away. The trap was set for Quinn owing t 0 complaints. The accused were committed for trial.—Press Assn..
