WELLINGTON, This Day. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. yesterday.
Sir F. D. Bell moved a motion in respect to the death of the late General Botha, Premier of South Africa. The mover said he believed that, al.l hough there might be records in the old Roman days to compare with that of General Botha, there. ,\vas not such another record .in the present days of civilisation. The motion was duly carried. WITHOUT AMENDMENT. The Statutes Revisory Committee recommended that the Chattels Transfer Amendment Bill the Public Authorities (Party Wall) Empowering Bill, and the Official Appointments and Documents Bill should be allowed to proceed without amendment. COMPANIES BILL. Sir F. D. Bell gave notice of intention to ask for leave to introduce tomorrow the 'Companies' Amendment Bill. TRIBUTES TO THE DEPARTED. The Council placed on record its sense of the faithful services rendered to New Zealand by the late Hon. A. L. D. Fraser, the Hon. Thos. Thompson, and Messrs Donald Reid, Hamilton Gilmer, and William Henry Tucker. PEACE RATIFICATION. On the motion of Sir F. D. BeJ.l, seconded by the Hon. Sir W. HallJones, the Council assented to ratification by his Majesty of the Treaty, of Peace with Germany, as approved by the plenipotentiaries at the recent Peace Conference. The Council adjourned at 3.59 until this afternoon.
