The warm rain we have just had has greatly improved th e feed, and unless we experience any very cold
weather the mortality in cattle should cease.
The lambing season has made a start; quite a number of lambs are in evidence. A fair number of cows have also calved lately, and so the cream cart is making a start on Monday morning.
Although the Jugoslavs are now free, I have not heard of any intention on their part to leave the works here. Now that the winter is over very likely they will see the summer through before making a move. The Public Works had their first experience of the floods at Waiotera
last Saturday. On c dray wit , , a big load missed the bridge with one wheel, and was only got out with great difficulty. In another team one of the leaders missed the bridge, with the consequence that the horse almost disappeared, and was only released after much strenuous effort.
