Mr T. Griffin, chairman, of the;: Kamo Town Board, asked the chair- J ! man if there would be any limit to f the time the Bill would remain in. | operation if it were passed? Would it be necessary to borrow within a certain time?
The Chairman: "The Bill will remain in force until repealed.
Mr H. Hawken (Marua ißoad Board) wanted to know if the rate would be struck upon the unimproved or capital value? ♦
The Chairman: The Bill provides for the striking of the rate upon the capital value.
Mr J. A. S. McKay (A. Amd P.) remarked thafhe did not represent any industry or local body, but in the A., and P. Association he claimed to represent important interests. In travelling through the district he found" that the fanners were fairly unanimous in wishing the Bill passed into law. There seemed to be very little objection to the measure in the country districts. He thought from what. he had heard , that the Board would have' almost the unanimous support of the farming community. (Applause.)
