PLAIN SAILING
Mr McDonald (Hikurangi Dairy Co.) declared that the position was simple enough. Were they in favour of a harbour or. not?. That was the question. • The discussion of the scheme could «ome up again. When the Bill wa-s. put through.the proposals would be set before the ratepayers to see if they ivould borrow tihe money to finance the work. Then would be the time to , discuss the scheme. To bring the matter to a. head he moved:
"Thiati this .meeting, of representatives of local bodies, Chamber of Conunercey Farmers' Unions, Agricultural Associations and Industries of the iWhangiarei harbour district supports the passing of the proposed Whangarei Harbour Empowering Bill in its entirety."
Mr S; j> MeCorinick seconded the motion and found no necessity for discussing the scheme. Before the board could borrow it would iha.ve to go to the ratepayers. It was quite impossible to develop the harbour without money. The only thing, to do was to support the Bill, otherwise they '-would get no money. (Applause.)
