ONERAHI TOWN BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING,

The monthly meeting of the Onerahi Town Board was held last night. Present: Comrs. H. A. Going (chairman), J. Culbert, W. Mason and P Mclnerney.

Beach Road Damages.—The Minister of Public Works and Mr F .Mander, M.P., in reply to the Board's application for a grant of £100 towards repairing damages done by floods on Beach road, stated that before a vote could be granted the Public Works engineer would have to report on the extent of the damages done to the road.—The Chairman stated that an officer of the Department had, during the past week, inspected Beach road and forwarded a report to the Department. Water Supply Reserve.—H. Beasley inquired if the Board would lease a portion of the proposed water supply catchment area at Owihiwa.—lt was resolved to inform applicant that the Board had no intention at present of disposing of any portion of the reserve until the question of a permanent water 'supply for Onerahi had been dealt with, and that could not be considered until after the war.

Second Division Reserve.—The Wellington Recruiting Board wrote that a roll of men of the Second Division was being printed and that copies would be distributed to local bodies in order that they might check any errors or omissions. —'Communication received.

Patriotic Contribution.—The Onerahi Regatta and Boating Club forwarded a cheque for £3 Ss 2d as a. contribution to the Onerahi Patriotic Society.—lt was resolved to thank the club for its contribution and to forward the money to the proper authorities.

Surfaceman's Report.—Mr Cockburn reported that he had completed the work of planting ornamental and shelter trees on the Domain reserve and that the fencing of the same had been Carried out. Various works had been carried out on the streets of the town. He had completed his contract for the supply of broken metal. Damage had been done to water-tables through gum-digging by natives and others. — It was resolved to instruct the Board's ranger to take legal action against the offenders.

Town Hall.—The Town Hall custodian reported that the revenue for the month was £1 15s 6d.

Removal of Gorse. —It was resolved, on the motion of. Comr. Mclnerney, seconded by Comr. Oulbert, that the surfaceman be instructed to clear noxious weeks from the road frontages of properties owned by 'soldiers on active service, the Chairman remarking it was the least the Board could do.

Accounts.—On Comrs. Culbert and Mclnerney's motion accounts amounting to £57 8s lid were passed for payment.
