ONERAHI.

Word was received last week 'by Mrs A. Fowler from her brother, Corporal W. 'G. Nixey of the Ist Austral, ians. Corporal Nixey, after nearly three years of war, during which he was twice wounded, arrived at Melbourne, invalided home, aboard the transport "Themistocles." After the strain and turmoil of three compaigns, "it is fine," he says, "to get safe home again to one's wife and children." Among the passengers for Auckland, per Manaia, on Tuesday was Miss W. Houghton, on a visit of some weeks to relatives in town. Mi , J; Cochran returned to Onerahi, last week, after a fortnight's visit to Auckland. During his stay in town he fell in with many old Taranaki friends and 'put in a very pleasant time with them. A further consignment of goods for our iads at the front was made on Tuesday by the secretary of the Oneralii Red Cross .Society. The box which was dispatched contained 90 articles of clothing, knitted goods and other comforts. ■ As an outcome of two months' work, this result may probably b6 regarded as constituting a record and th§ .iadies of the society are to be heartily congratulated on the zeal and energy displayed in their labour of love.
