TOWAI.

A farewell social under the auspices of the Towai Agricultural Association was held in the Sail on Wednesday evening, July 18th, in honour of Private Fred Pattison (youngest son of Mr H. Pattison), who is on final leave. On behalf of the residents Mr D. T. Forbes made a presentation to the departing soldier, and in doing so wished the guest of the evening a safe and quick return.

This is the third son of Mr Pattison who has served with the forces. Private Jas G. Pattison left with the 22nd Reinforcements. Private W. R. • Pattison went to Gallipoli with the Main Body of Mounteds, and served there altogether for thirteen weeks, being wounded, twice. The second time he was wounded in the ankle and was invalided home and discharged, and is now working as surfaceman on v the railway.
