NGUNGURU.
Shipping: Arrivals and departures during the week: —Talisman, Dandy, Alert, Onerahi and Hacre (scows.) Two of our soldier boys are hero spending their final leave visiting relatives and old friends. Edward Grogan, eldest son of Mr E. Grogan, who has lived here for over forty years, and was bush boss for Mr Pierce Lanigan from the tirhe the old sawmill started. Private Grogan speaks in eulogistic terms of the treatment received by the men in camp at Featherston. He says '.hat everything possible is done to enhance their comfort, and to make their sojourn pleasant. Food is good, wholesome and plentiful. Like many others he is much improved by the drill and discipline he has gone through, and is looTring forward to the time when he can do his bit for us all and the Empire to which 'we belong. Prijvate Carpenter (a half-caste) fully endorses these' remarks. They were both volunteers and previous to enlisting were employed in bush work. Everyone joins in wishing them Godspeed, good luck, and a safe return. Mr and Mrs Grogan made a trip to Whangarei this week.
