The people of Whangarei' an.l throughout the county have almost daily reminders of the activities at the . Heads works by the drafts of fats that pass along the roads on their way to the killing pens. Nothing but heavy cattle are handled and these are drawn from all over the North. No sheep are now treated at these works, the operations being confined to beef far the.time being. It was expected that within a couple of months the: equivalent of 150 head, per day would have been passing from the' hands of the graziers for conversion into food supplies for the soldiers who are fighting the Empire's cause in the great European arena of war;
