DR JOWETT IN DUNDEE.
Those who think the power of the pulpit and the age of the preacher are gone would have rubbed their eyes in astonishment at a Dundee sight on a recent August Sunday. Dr Jowett preached in St Mary's Parish Church, a building af great historical interest. Long before the church doors opened, a queue stretching for more than a hundred yards awaited admission, the members of the congregation being allowed to take their seats first. Prior to the hour of the service commencing the church was filled to its utmost capacity, hundreds being unable to gain entrance.' A body of police was requisitioned to cope with the crowd, and the scene was one which has seldom been seen in the ecclesiastical annals of the city. Dr Jowett preached both morning and evening and held his audiences spellbound. The bow of this New York Englishman abides in strength
