THE BIBLE SOCIETY'S REPORT.
The 109 th report of the British and Foreign Bible Society is a substantial volume over 500 pages, with a lengthy appendix. Friends of the Society's work will turn with special interest to the reports of the colporteurs in Bulgaria and other Balkan States. Amid the terrible war of 1912 the Bible work, we are told, went on silently and ceaselessly, and the circulation for the year amounted toi 11,710 copies, an increase of 3,055 on the circulation for the more peaceful year of 1911. The depot at Rustschuk alone sold nearly 5,000 copies. From many towns and villages encouraging news has been received. "Everywhere," says one colporteur, " we are met by kind advice and encouragement from those in authority who wish to strengthen the interest of the Bulgarian people in the New Testament." Another oi the Society's agents met one day three Bulgarian military officers on the highway, who stopped him and bought an English Bible, a French and a Bulgarian N,ew Testament, and gave him permission to visit the barracks. The pages dealing with the progress in the Balkan countries alone are magnificent testimony to the Society's great work, and the whole volume is marked by evidence of a vigorous and useful policy.
