RETURN OF PEARCE. INTERVIEWED AT FREMANTL.E. FREMAXTL.E, Sept, 3. Pearce, the sculler, was a passenger by the Orvieto, which arrived yesterday. Interviewed, he said he djd not like to make excuses, but thought he would have beaten Barry comfortably if. he had not been seized with cramps in the arms after passing Hammersmith. ;
His opinion is that if Arnst is fit and well he will beat. Barry. Paddon had no chance unless he improved greatly in rough water-work.
Pearce is considering an offer from the Yale Uuiversity td act as coach at 3000 dollars a year.
