PAPAROA.

MARRIAGE OF MISS TIBBITS AND JIR 11. C. NUTSFORD. (From our own Corresponcdnt). On October 24th, Miss Diana Phoebe, eldest daughter of Mr G. Tibbits, of Paparoa, was united by marriage to Mr H. Nntsford, of Mareretu, the eldest son of Mr Thomas Nutsford, at St. Mark's Church, by the Eev. C. A. Tobin, our much respected resident minister. This was somewhat a new departure, most of our young people hitherto prefering the ceremony at their parents' residence, as though there was something Ito be ashamed of. Miss Davis and Miss Nutsford acted as bridesmaids, and Messrs William Nutsford andE. Tibbits as groomsmen. The day was somewhat showery with gleams of sunshine, foretelling the happy couple that they must bo prepared to take tho bitter with the sweet. Wedding- presents werenumerous, coming from f:u nnd near, in number about fifty, wbich must bave been very gratifying, not so much for their intrinsic valuo ns for the good feeling and well wishes shown. Amongst the guests at the wedding breakfast Mr Taylor, of Hamilton, an old friend of the Nutsford family, having crossed the pond from England together 19 years ago ; also, Mr Johu Parsons, the founder of the Paparoa settlement, whom the Maoris in the enrly days called the king, and who was at the wedding of the brido's father and mother. Our boys had intended to have rattled the tins, but at tho last moment decided to let them depart in peace. •Shearing has commenced, but is now checked by the showery weather, the clip wili be good. Apple trees I never saw so laden with blossom. Crops of all descriptions look well.
