STRIKE OF THE NEWCASTLE COLLIERS.
Newcastle, August 14. A fortnight's notice of a general strike has been given by the miners. There are forty-six foreign vessels in port awaiting cargoes of coal, but the miners have intimated to the masters that they will only be able to coal twenty vessels before time expires for going out on the strike. Adelaide, August 14. If Newcastle miners go on strike, the trade here will be paralysed, as no available coal supplies are on hand.
