Maize scarce and firm at 3/8, with hardening tendency. Milling wheat 3/9; oats, drooping through low offers and new crop from the South. Potatoes £2 10/ per ton.

PRODUCE MARKET

Butter is getting scarcer, and price again advanced /l per lb. Prices are now /8 to /10 wholesale, and /10 to 1/ retail. Eggs /10 per dozen wholesale, and 1/ per dozen retail.

KAURI GUM MARKET,

Kauri gum much weaker, and prices unsettled. We quote, nominally, as follows, with downward tendency. Fair ordinary 40/, best ording 41/ to 42/, and East Coast 50/ to 52/. Supplies for 31 days of January about 763 tons.

At Remuera, on Thursday, a moderate supply of stock which met with improved enquiry throughout the sale. Dairy cows, at profit, in demand ; store cattle fully maintained late values; and fat calves in short supply and sold briskly. Fat cattle iufull. numbers, and obtained an advanco of 1 per lOOlbs.
