More Debts.
Wellington, Thursday,
The Government has just received from England a claim for £20,000 incurred by the late Government without the "shadow of authority." The late Treasurer admitted the -axpenditure of £40,000 in excess of Parliamentary authority, hut this new claim comes as a fresh disclosure. No documents exist in the department to show how or for what the liability was incurred. The responsibility for it is placed on Mr Balance's shoulders.
