THE POPE AND THE IRISH AGITATION. London, July 1 . Monsignor Persico has been commissioned by the Pope to inquire into the extent to which the Roman Catholic clergy are assisting illegal agitation in Ireland. The Pope's action has given rise to much comment, and the result of the enquiry is anxiously awaited-
