WHANGAREI MUTUAL IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION.
The opening meeting of the class was held on Friday evening last. Owing to the seTere weather there was but a small attendance. Mr H. MoKenzie was voted to the chair. The following gentlemen were .nominated as candidates for the association : — Mr Elliott, proposed by Mr Pollock, Mr Scaly proposed by Mr J. Wilson, Mr Eish by Mr D. McKenzie, Mr Brooks by Mr Jenkins, and Mr Orrasby by Mr Wilson. ! The secretary read a list of debates to be discussed during the session, and notified that he would be glad to receive names of members who could take them up. The President was not present to give his address but it will be delivered this evening. The meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the Chairman*
