“Messiah” on Tuesday Night

All profits from the presentation of Handel’s "Messiah” in the Opera House on Tuesday night next are to be devoted to the "Food For Britain" fund. This is a very worthy objective but that the Opera House will oe crowded to overflowing will not be solely because of that fact. Every sealwill be taken because of the very fine performance -which is to be staged. The fact is that Palmerstonians, by thenpatronage of classical concerts in recent times, havo proved that they have a taste for the best in music. There are over 100 voices under the baton of Mr. Holmes Runnicles, and an orchestra of some 20 instruments. ‘ ‘ Messiah” on Tuesday night will be one of the musical highlights of tho year for the city. The soloists will be Miss Myra Sawyer (soprano), Wellington; Mrs. Ruby Woodward, (contralto), Hamilton; Mr. J. T. Battersby (tenor), Hamilton; and Mr. Len Kerr (baritone), New Plymouth.
