Rongotea W.I. Flower Show
Garden enthusiasts who exhibited at the flower show sponsored by the Rongotea Women’s Intstitute carried home with them many new ideas for use in the culture and arrangement of flowers. From pansies of unusual size to tall spikes of delphinium in the newest colours, the display was very fine. All the 'entries were critically examined and discussed, surprise being, expressed at the high quality of the display in view of the wet and windy season experienced. The president (Mrs. T. E. Collins) introduced Mrs. W. McClelland, president of the Manawatu Federation, who, opening the show, complimented all concerned on the high standard of exhibits, especially in the rose section. The champion rose was exhibited by Mrs. H. E. Turner, Kairanga, a perfect bloom of ‘‘Paul’s Lemon Pillar.” Mrs. H. V. Caverhill was secretary and had the assistance of Mrs. W» A. Hurst.
