First Annual Meeting Of Dorian Society
There was a good attendance at the first annual meeting of the Dorian Society, which was held in the Theosophical Hall on Tuesday night. The hall | was decorated for the occasion with orange-blossom and paeony roses. A short musical programme formed the first part of the meeting. The girls’ song group, presented two numbers, “To Alusic,” and “In Derry Vale,” which were followed by a piano item by Aliss W. Burgess, Beethoven’s
4 4 Sonata in E Flat. ’ ’ Mr. C. F. Bowick sang 4 4 Homing ’ ’ and 4 4 Requiem, ’ ’ and Miss D. Goldsmith 4 4 The Sweetest Flower that Blooms” and
44 Long Ago.” The accompanist for the evening was Airs. C. F. Bowick.
Satisfaction at the work of the society during its first year was expressed in the report by the president (Mrs. W. H. Loch), who said that excellent progress had been made. Airs. Loch thanked the Theosophical Society for the use of its hall. She referred to the success of tho public concert, and said that the society had also been represented at the Civic Centre concert. The report was received. The balance-sheet, which was adopted, showed the finances to be in a very sound condition. Mrs. ; Bowick thanked Airs Loch for her work as president and also as hostess at committee meetings and presented her with a shoulder spray. A vote of thanks to the secretary (Mrs G. E. Nilsson) was alsounoved, and she was commended for her good work. In appreciation of their efforts for the concert Airs Loch also presented shoulder sprays to Mesdames Bowick, Gair, H. A. Bayley and G. W. Dixon. The election of officers resulted:—President, Airs. Loch; vice-presi-dent, Airs. Bowick; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. Nilsson; committee, Mesdames C. R. Gair, N. K. Beveridge, F. Revere, A. AlcGregor, E. Dickson, F. Chittenden, H. Bayley, Misses D. Goldsmith and T. Foote, Messrs Loch and Bowick.
