Wedding of Wide Interest At St. Andrew’s Church

PRESTNEY—BOYD

X wedding of widespread interest was solemnised at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Palmerston North, on November 10, 1945, when Sylvia, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Boyd, of Wellington, was married to L.A.C. Ronald Prestney (R.N.Z.A.P.), only son of Mrs. E. Parmer, and the late Mr. W. J. Prestney, of Palmerston North.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, looked charming in a trained gown of heavy ivory duchess satin. The veil of uncut tulle was held in place by a floral coronet, and a bouquet of lilies and maidenhair fern completed a most becoming toilette. She was attended by Miss Thelma Luxmoore, of Palmerston North, and Miss Janet Sneddon, of Wellington, the bridesmaids wearing similarly fashioned .--owns of powder blue georgette wi long bodices featuring the new quii.ed ruching. Their bouquets were of pinlc azaleas and carnations and maiden hair fern with head sprays to match.

The best man was L.A.C. Arthur Howan, of Welliugtou, with 'L.A.C. Robert Rhodes, of Gisborne, in the capacity of groomsman. Whilst the Register was being signed, the singing of “I’ll Walk Beside You,” by Mrs. Morrison, of Suva, added atmosphere to the ceremony. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a horseshoe by Miss Margaret Reeves. At the reception held at the Railway Hall, over 120 guests were received by Airs. Boyd and Airs. Farmer, the former wearing a green ensemble trimmed with fox fur and matching accessories, and a shoulder spray of red roses. Mrs. Farmer was dressed in a model frock o± blue wool georgette, with a brown coney fur coat, her spray being of flame roses. The usual toasts were honoured and felicitations offered, Air. Charles Bailey ably performing the duties ot toastmaster. When Mr. and Airs. Prestney left later for Hawke’s Bay, the bride travelled in a charming suit of deep maroon silk marocain with powder oiue velvet accessories.

They will make their new home in Wellington.
