America Celebrates After False Peace Reports
ANOTHER OUTBREAK OF VIOLENCE IN HALIFAX
Received Monday, 11.50 p.m. NEW YORK, August 13.
Nationwide noise and celebrations followed the false peace report. Crowds in many cities continued their rejoicings after the radio and press stated that the announcement was incorrect. A message from Halifax (Canada) says the celebrations flared up into violence. The police using batons drove off a mob of several hundreds which attempted to storm a liquor store which was previously looted on VE Day.
