W.I. Council Meeting
At the annual council meeting of the Manawatu Federation of Women’s Institutes yesterday, Mrs. W. M. McClelland, of Kairanga, was elected president unopposed. Warm tributes were paid to Mrs. T. D. Lynch (retiring president) who was the recipient of a handbag and a presentation basket of flowers. Presentations were also made to Mrs. A. Poananga and Miss M. Grant, retiring members of the executive, also to Mrs. E. Russell, who did not seek re-election. There was an election for the executive of nine, Mesdames W. Child, I. Claridge (Opiki), T. E. Collins (Rongotea), F. Hockly (Kairanga), D. Kernohan (Koputaoroa), T. D. Lynch (Linton), D. Scott and R. J. Tate (Aokautere) and A. J. Will being elected. At a subsequent meeting of the executive Mrs. Hockly was re-elected secretary and Mrs. Kernohan treasurer. A full report will appear to-morrow.
