D.P.A. at Colyton

There was an exceptionally good attendance of dairy farmers at Colyton to hear of the aims and objects of the Dairy Producers’ Association. The three delegates elected to represent their area were Messrs W. E. Parker, E. R. Vickers and W. L. Roache, It was decided that their monthly meetings be held with the Feilding branch and only extraordinary meetings be held in Colyton. An interesting discussion took place over the Veterinary Clubs and it was thought that instead of the dairy industry being taxed hundreds of thousands of pounds to bring them into operation, the money would be better spent on a free training scheme to teach farmers to do the work themselves. Many more cows would be saved if they were treated immediately instead of waiting for a vet. It was also urged that the Dairy Producers’ Association take this subject yp and keep the dairy farmers informed with details as to the best system of saving the life of more cows and calves. The meeting was in agreement with making the dairy industry a selfsupporting unit in regards to selling and purchasing.
