Competition was keen in all sections and we report a total clearance, realisations being the best recorded so far this season. In the store sheep section the entry comprised principally ewe and wether hoggets, with several pens of fat sheep, and a pen of ewes and lambs. Competition was steady throughout, with values fully firm at late rates. The fat sheep were keenly competed for by local butchers, wethers in particular selling extremely well at prices ranging from 32s to 38s. In the cattle section some good fat bullocks and heifers were offered on account of Mr. D. V. Ross and realised £l3 7s 6d and £9 15s respectively; the balance of the fat cattle on offer were ex-dairy sorts which met with a free sale. Mr. R. G. Gray's annual di'aft of yearling T*.A. steers and heifers also commanded keen attention. These cattle came forward in excellent order and condition; 32 yearling P.A. steers realised £6 17s ana the heifers £4 6s. The balance of the large offering of cattle was made up of dairy cows and heifers for which there was a strong inquiry, prices showing a definite improvement on recent sales.
