Notes of the Day
Residents of Cheltenham will gather in the hall on Monday evening in honour of Aircraftsman R. Coleman. The temperature in Feilding on Thursday rose to SI degs., the highest tho mercury has been this summer. The day was particularly hot and many found it trying. Yesterday a breeze tempered the heat and the change was welcomed.
The weather continues Hue and hot in Feilding and yesterday brought to town a large crowd for shopping, the day witnessing the re-opening of many of the business houses following the Xmas-New Year vacation. A number of business houses w ill not re-open until next week.
Major and Mrs C. Neeve, who have been stationed in Feilding for the past several years in charge of the Salvation Army will shortly go to Palmerston North to act .in a similar capacity. It will be recalled that Major Neeve came to Feilding in a very poor state of health, having been transferred here in order to relieve him of the heavier strain of city work performed at Christchurch, Invercargill, Dunedin, and Auckland, where the organisation of Salvation Army work was carried out under his supervision. Since his stay in Feilding Major Neeve ’s health has improved appreciably, and both he and Mrs Neeve have not spared themselves in their work. Their success has been been reflected in the interest taken by townspeople in tho Salvation Army’s activities and in their popularity. Major and Mrs Neeve will leave Feilding with the good wishes of many friends; their work as Salvationists will stand as a very worthy contribution to the spiritual welfare of the community. Major Christopher and Captain Benson, women Salvationists from the South Island, will succeed Major aud Mrs Neeve at Feilding. .
