Miss C. Warburton was in the chair at the AJarch meeting of the district committee of the Women's War Service Auxiliary and welcomed Mrs. O. C. King, Government nominee to replace Mrs. J. Brown, as a new committee member, also Mrs. J. H. Whyte, who has had leave through ill-health. Correspondence included a letter from the Director of National Service re equipment for members of the Women’s Land Service, that this was now being issued; from the Dominion Secretary, formal notification of Mrs King's appointment; from same re uniforms for committee members, from same re co-operation with the Home Cuard; from same re sitting of W.A.A.F. selection board. Mrs. L. Bale reported having represented the committee at the request of the chairman, all applicants called having been interviewed. Mrs S. G. Northey, who has been acting for Mrs. Whyte reported that 576 members had been engaged on canteen duty during the month. Many matters in connection with Ibis work were discussed and the following resignations were accepted and appointments approved: No. 1 Platoon, resignations as section leaders, Mrs. C. Hayward and Miss Smith; sub-section leaders, Misses B. Stevens and Hibbell; appointments as section leaders, Miss M. Scott, Mrs Ross transferred from No. 2 Platoon; sub-section leaders, Mesdames M. Smith and Woodill. No. 2 Platoon: Resignation as sub-section leader, Miss Casey; transfer Mrs. Ross, appointment as section leader, Mrs. L. Smith; subsection leader, Miss L. Crosby. Mrs. Whyte voiced her appreciation of the manner in which the work had been carried out by Mrs. Northey and the leaders :n her absence. It was resolved to make more use of the Cycle Corps in work being carried out by the Auxiliary. Mrs. E. Harrod reported that the net-making was proceeding satisfactorily eleven nets having been completed and further supplies were on order. Appreciation was expressed that Mrs. Jaggard had carried out an urgent job for the Home Guard most effectively. The chairman reported on the proposed display, April 10 being fixed as the date and intimated the Items for the programme. It was agreed that this should be a patriotic effort to go towards the next district appeal. An invitation was received from the Secretary United Guild, to attend their annual meeting when an address will be given by Countess Wodzicka. Approval was given for the concert party to visit one of the camps. Mesdames Whyte and Northey were appointed to the emergency committee lor the month and a roster for office duty was drawn up.
