(From our Own Correspondent.) Last Wednesday evening the hall was crowded with residents and visitors from all the neighbouring districts, who wished to be present at the social arranged to pay tribute to three soldiers, Gunners Charlie Elliott, Len Thomas, and Troopei Jack Redsliaw. Mr. Wright officiated at the piano for the dance numbers while the guest artist for the evening was Miss Barbara Fleury of Kimbolton, whose vocal and pianoforte numbers proved popular. The customary presentation was made by the president of the Patriotic Society, Mr. N. Sliortall, while Mrs. B. McLeod, Waiata, acted on behalf oi the Ladies’ Patriotic Society in handing the men appropriate gifts. Ladies resident on the Spur Road provided supper. Mi*. Shortall made a request to residents for support in aid of the parcel funds for local boys overseas, the speaker stressing the point that the money was always wisely and well spent in this cause.
