Visiting Lady Bowlers At Hokowhitu Greens

Ladies from the Port Ahuriri Bowling Club were the guests of Hokowhitu lady howlers last week when the first game ol the annual match for the Centennial Cup was played. This was played on Wednesday, Hokowhitu winning by four points as follows:—Port Ahuriri: Mesdames Riddell, McCarthy, Hardakre and Sinclail (skip) 16, Hokowhitu: Mesdames Chapman, Lovelock, Foley and Body (skip) 20. The second game of this match will be played when Hokowhitu players visit the Port Ahuriri Club shortly. On Thursday, a very successful tournament was held on the Hokowhitu green, fourteen rinks taking part. Five games were played, three skips each winning four games, Mesdames Sinclair (Port Ahuriri), Scales (Terrace End) and Spinley (Hokowhitu). Two leads, Mesdames Henderson (Levin) and Smith (Terraco End) each registered four wins and in playing off, Mesdames Scales, H. Turner and Smith (Terrace End) and Mrs. Foley (Hokowhitu) were the winners, consolation prizes going to Mesdames M. Turner, and Power (Terrace End), Seddon (Levin) and Woodroofe (Hokowhitu). In presenting the prizes, Miss G. Underwood, president, Hokowhitu, who had previously welcomed the visitors, thanked all players for their attendance, tlierebjl ensuring the success of the tournament. Messrs McCarthy (Port Ahuriri), Rosanoski (Feilding), Lett (Levin), Wackrow (Takaro) and Turner (Terrace End) replied on behalf of their respective clubs.
