Whakarongo
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The school picnic was held in Mr. Johnson's paddock in fine weather. The local Women's Institute co-op-erated with the school committee and arranged a portion of the programme. At the Patriotic Committee meeting, Mrs. E. Henaghan presided. Arrangements were made to assist in the running of the patriotic shop during the week commencing March Bth. Whakarougo ladies will have charge on the afternoon of March 9th. Arrangements were made for a canvass of the district for gifts of produce. It was decided to send another addressed parcel to local men overseas. Aliss W. Vautier, who has been on duty as a V.A. at the Intermediate School hospital, has been transferred to Rotorua. Much regret is felt at the passing of Mr. Claude Cater, of Weston Avenue, Palmerston North, who was well-known in this district.
