At the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand to be held in Auckland in November. Rev. JR. Warnock, of Palmerston North, will represent the Wanganui Presbytery and Mr. J. B. Gerrand will represent St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. Regret w-as expressed by the annual meeting of the Manawatu Lawn Tennis Association last night that Mr. H. N. Watson was not in the best of health at present, and it was decided to write to him expressing best wishes for a speedy recovery. The sympathy of the Manawatu Lawn Tennis Association was extended last night to the relatives of the late Air. D. I. Robertson, a former secretary and treasurer of the association, whose death occurred while on active service. Sympathy was also extended to the relatives of the late Air. Bollard, formerly secretary of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association, and the late Mr. A. W. J. Peacock, formerly secretary of the Wangahui Association. Captain A. Holmes, N.Z.P.S., officer commanding the Central District School of Instruction and Dannevirke military camp, has been promoted to the rank oi temporary major. Prior to the war Alajor Holmes was stationed for a Lime in Palmerston North as regimental sergeantmajor of the Manawatu Mounted Rifles. He w r as commissioned in 1930 and sent to Hawera, but returned to Palmerston North in 1941 and was attached to the C.D.5.1., where he acted as chief instructor and second-in-command, subsequently going to Dannevirke.
