ANNUAL MEETING OF CLUB The importance of swimming wa* stressed at the annual meeting of the Feilding Amateur Swimming Club on Wednesday evening by Mr. J. G. Eliott (patron) in the course of his remarks. The past season had been a most difficult one and he felt that more public support was called for in furthering a more widespread knowledge of swimming.

It was decided to make application to the Borough Council for the use of the Municipal Baths. A small sub-commit-tee was set up to arrange for the opening night. Votes of thanks were accorded Miss O. Sporle, the ladies' committee, officers and the men’s committee. It was resolved that a junior club be formed for the purpose of inculcating interest in swimming, Mr. O. Sporle, sponsor of the proposition, stating that in Palmerston North mush success had attended the decision to form a junior club there. The club would be governed by the parent body and every assistance would be given by the senior section. The chairman said the proposition was a step in the light direction. Messrs. W. Carter, E. Jenkins, T. Dewe, B. McLeod, A. Sporle, and Miss Sporle were appointed to convene a meeting of juniors. The incoming committee was asked to consider the question of holding a learners 1 ’ night, Mr. Dewe stating that ooaches were available. Mr. Sporle, senr., was requested to interview the heads of the primary schools, the High School, and the Convent School with & view to soliciting their co-operation in connection with the formation of the junior club.

The election of officers resulted:. Patron, Mr. Eliott; president, Mr. O. C. Sporle; vice presidents, all re-elected; secretary, Miss O. Sporle; captain, Mr. G. Gaskin; vice-captain, Mr. Bruce McLeod; the name of Miss Boach was added to the ladies’ committee (re-

elected), while Messrs. T. Dewe and A. Sporle were added to the men’e committee (re elected); auditor, Mr. A. J, Geary; handicappers, the secretary, captain, and Mr. W. Carter; delegates to Manawatu Centre, Messrs. U. C. Bporlo and G. Gaskin.
