MEETING OF EXECUTIVE * The first meeting of the newly elected executive of the Manawatu Federation I of Women’s Institutes was held in the Y.W.C.A. club rooms yesterday, Mrs. T. D. Lynch (Linton) presiding. Also present being Mesdames W. M. McLelland (Kairanga), D. Scott (Aokautere), T. Rowland (Longburn), H. McEwen (Tiakitahuna), A. Poananga, (Palmerston North), W. Churchill, H. V. Caverhill and T. E. Collins (Rongotea). Mrs. Lynch extended a welcome to the committee particularly mentioning the new members and a smaller compli •ment was paid the president. The secretary authorised to write letters of appreciation to the retiring members of the executive. The treasurer (Mrs. Caverhill) reported having received affiliation fees from Carnarvon (£1 12s) and Glen Oroua (2 4s) and a donation of £2 10s Od From Shannon. Miss Grant and Mrs. McClelland jvere appointed vice-presidents. Subcommittees were formed as follow: — Show displays. —Mesdames McClelland, Poananga and McEwen. Drama and music.—Mesdames Scott, Churchill and Miss Grant. Badges.—Mrs. Rowland. Arrangements were set in. train for holding an officers’ school in Palmerston North and if possible to have Miss O. Walters (Carterton) Dominion treasurer, to conduct it. Further inquiries are to be made about the Travel Club, the president and secretary to report back to the executive. Tentative plans were made for the floral festival, a suggested date being November 27.
