Easier Saturday Wedding at Foxton

INGRAM—SMITH A pretty wedding, of interest to Foxton and district residents, was solemnised at All Saints ’ Church, Foxton, on Easter Saturday afternoon, jvpril 12, when Violet Lorraine, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Smith, of Foxton, was married to Noel LongstaiT, younger son of Mrs. and the late Mr. S. W. Ingram, of Ohakea. The ceremony was performed by Rev. G. B. Stote-Blandy and Mr. H. A, Hannay presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was charmingly attired in a lovely frock of rich cream satin, cut on classical lines. The bodice, which was made with a front centre panel, -was fastened at the back with a row of tiny buttons and was finished at the waistline with a large satin bow. A band of cream satin flowers added an attractive touch to the round neck-line, the band of flowers also being repeated on the long fitting sleeves. The skirt hung in graceful folds to form a long train, over which her embroidered veil of white tulle, held in place with a halo of orange blossom, fell softly to form a second train. Her beautiful shower bouquet was of cream roses, and dahlias and asparajgus fern, tied with cream satin streamers, from which wero sus pended a cream satin horse-shoe. Miss Elsie Dawe, Palmerston North, attended as bridesmaid and her dainty frock was of powder blue taffeta. The pleated bodice featured puffed sleeves aud a bolero, which was caught to the frock with clusters of cyclamen and pink flowers, matching flowers also finishing the round neck-line. Clusters of cyclamen and pink flowers were also attached at intervals to the fluffy flared ankle length skirt. She wore a bandeau of cyclamen and pink flowers on her hair and carried a shower bouquet of dahlias iri shades of pink and cyclamen with fern, and tied with blue streamers. The flowergirl, little June Hay, oi Oliakune, niece of the bride, was a picturesque figure in her old-world frock of powder blue taffeta. The bodice was softly ruched in front and finished down the back with a row of tiny blue bows, while contrasting flowers in shades of pink and blue encircled the round neckline. The frock was made with a very full ankle-length skirt. A bandeau of pink and blue flowers was worn on the hair and she carried a Victorian posy of pink and blue flowers and fern, with silver and blue streamers.

The duties of best man wore carried out by Mr. Ken Field, of Bulls. At the conclusion of the ceremony a reception was held at the Town Hall supper room, where relations and intimate friends wero received by Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Smith and Mrs. S. W. Ingram and her eldest son, Mr. Ron Ingram, of Hamilton. Mrs. Smith was becomingly attired in a floral frock of navy bluo crepe with which she wore a navy blue edge-to-edge coat, a navy hat and matching accessories. She carried a posy of red flowers and fern. Mrs. Ingram was wearing a navy blue pin striped tailored costume with navy hat. Shoes and gloves her posy were in autumn shades. Air. George Ancell, of Pahiatua, uncle of the bride, officiated as toastmaster. The tables were artistically decorated and the handsome cake, iced in deep cream, occupied pride of place. When Air. and Airs. Noel Ingram left later by car for the north, the bride travelled in a navy blue pin-striped tailored costume with which she wore a fur stole. A smart hat of navy blue and matching accessories. Air. and Airs. N. L. Ingram have now taken up their residence at Ohakea.
