Fitz Herbert, Ihaka Street, , has returned to Palmerston North after ’ a visit to Auckland and Tauranga. Mrs. 11. S. Thurston, Wanganui, is I spending a few days in Feilding and Palmerston North. Mrs. Garth Williams, ‘ ‘ Tuatahi,’ ' Fitzherbert West, who has been visiting her sister at Dawson Falls, has returned home. A wedding of interest to Palmerston North was celebrated recently in Christchurch, when Miss Vivienne do Derry, I formerly of this city, was married to 1 Mr. lan McKinnon. 1 Mrs. S. K. Symes and Miss A. Symes, of Waverley, who have been the guests of Mrs. K. A. Blundell, of Feilding, are spending a few days in Hastings before returning to Taranaki. Congratulations will go out to Mr. and Mrs. Crowe, of Rangiotu, who celebrated the 60 th anniversary o± their wedding day this week, and sympathy with Mrs. Crowe in that she is ill in hospital. All her friends will wish her a speedy return to health and the opportunity of marking this important occasion. Miss M. E. Brown, who is leaving her position as matron of the Island Bay Convalescent Home (attached to the Wellington Hospital) to take up duties at the clearing station in Wel- . lington for wounded soldiers of the N.Z.E.F., received presentations and messges, including good wishes from 1 the Dannevirke R.S.A. and the matron and staff of the Dannevirke Hospital. Miss Brown had a distinguished career j in the last war, serving for three years I on hospital ships and for seven months .at advanced casualty clearing stations in Italy. She was matron of the Dannevirke Hospital for 14 years.
