SCIENTIFIC COLLABORATION
(British Official Wireless) (Rec. 30, 12.45) RUGBY, April 29. Replying to-day to a question in the House of Commons, the Foreign Undersecretary, Mr R. A. Butler, stated that, after consultation with the appropriate authorities in the United States, the British Government had drawn up a comprehensive scheme which had already been put into operation for co-operation in scientific matters with the United States. Dr. Darwin, Director of the National Physical Laboratory, had been sent as the director of a central scientific office working under the direction of the British Supply Council in North America. Dr. Darwin would collaborate with United Spates research bodies and act as a channel for the exchange with the appropriate authorities of technical and scientific information. He would also generally co-ordinate scientific and technical inquiries to and from the United States authorities.
