Feilding Magistrate's Court
FORTNIGHTLY SITTING Tho fortnightly sitting of the Feilding Magistrate’s Court was held yesterday, Mr. R. M. Watson, S.M., presiding. A line of £4 was imposed on Leonard J. Lee, of Feilding, on a charge of being in possession of liquor in tho vicinity of a dance hall, namely, Ihe Te Ara-
kura, Hail. For operating an unlicensed motorcycle Robert Edward Versey was lined 3Us aud J2s costs and for having no driver’s license he was lined a like sum with 10s costs. Charged with operating a motor vehicle with the wrong class of driver’s •license, Albert John Cowan was lined £1 aud 12s costs. Benjamin Law, wood aud coal merchant, was lined £1 and costs for operating a motor-lorry carrying a load which exceeded the regulation width of Bft. Inspector Ford, who prosecuted, stated that he stopped the lorry on Awahuri Road and measured the width, which was 9ft. 6in. It was the first traffic breach, the defendant had been guilty of. The defendant ' stated that the trouble was duo to the load having moved. The lorry had been loaded with firewood and owing to the rough road the load had shifted. The Magistrate said that the case had been brought as a, warning to others that they must not exceed 'the width laid down in the regulations.
