Third Medical Board Sitting The third medical board for the examination of Pahiatua territorial recruits sat in Pahiatua on Wednesday evening, the board comprising Drs. H. Paterson and E. B. Watson. Seventeen men presented themselves and of those 12 were passed as fit, a proportion of approximately 70 per cent. One more sitting ! of the local board, to be held next Wednesday, will complete the examination of the recruits from the first ballot. R.S.A. to Farewell an Old Soldier To-night in the Pahiatua Masonic Hall the “Diggers” of the district will tarewell an old soldier of the last war, Private O. V. Oxley, who is on his final leave and leaving for overseas service shortly. Known to many as “Sock,” ».e i6xt New Zeaiand with the Main uouy and was attacned to the Mounted Rifles. He was decorated with the military Medal for oravery on active service. Private Oxley is the first Great War veteran to leave the Pahiatua district for this war. A presentation Fahiatua town and country people will also be part of the smoke concert in hia honour.
