(From Our Own Correspondent.) Patriotic Committee At a meeting of the Patriotic Committee Mr. Murphy presided, others present being Mesdames Cook, Amou. Bleakeley, Brewer, Amon, Evans ana Muldruck, and Messrs. Woodroofe, Finlay, Flowers, Muldrock, Brewer, McDonell, Drummond, Stephen and Jones (secretary). The chairman welcomed the new members- of the committee. Correspondence was received from the Zone E organiser of the £1,000,000 appeal giving details of the various funds for which the appeal was being launched, and it was decided to allot sections for collectors, who would commence a house-to-house canvass on November 15. Thd matter of a concert for patriotic funds was held over as suitable dates are not available. On behalf of Mr. E. Holdaway, a child’s set of furniture was displayed by Mr. • Brewor, who stated that Mr. Holdaway was donating same to the committee to raffle for patriotic funds. Members of tho committee wish to thank Mr. Holdaway for his generous action, more especially as the donor makes the articles himself, though a cripple. It i was decided to raffle the set, to close December 20, and to be drawn on Saturday, December 21, at the patriotic dance. Donations of a waggon cover
and a small tea-set to go with the furniture set was made by Mrs. Bleakley and Mr. Woodroofe. The complete set will be on display in Messrs. Parkes and Co.’s shop. It was decided to discontinue the usual local raffle competition until further notice. Various matters in relation to the catering for regular dances were discussed and amendments made.
