From Our Own Correspondent. Court Secretary Honoured At the monthly meeting of Court Pohangina, No. 7313, A.0.F.. Sister M. Davis | presided over a good attendance of members and visitors from Court Manawatu, Hinemoa, Loy'al Feilding and Woodville. During the proceedings Sister M. Davis, C.R., presented Bro. W. R. years. She expressed the wish of the court that he would be able to carry on these duties for many years to come. Sister H. Middleton, S.C.R., endorsed the remarks made on behalf of the court. Bro. Smith, P.C.R., suitably replied. At the conclusion of the meeting members and visitors adjourned to the Town Hall for supper at which P.C.R. Bro. Smith was the guest of the evening. The following toasts were honoured: "The King.” "Bro. W. R. Smith,” "Visitors,” "Court Pohangina,” “Wellington District Executive” and "The Toastmaster.” The various representatives responded. Appreciation was expressed to the ladies of the court, who made this function possible and enabled everyone to have such an enjoyable evening.

Defence Rifle Club The Ashhurst Defence Rifle Club’s competitions were advanced a further stage on Saturday afternoon, when the championship shoots were concluded. Ranges fired over were 600, 500 and 300 yards. Conditions were fair and a fresh left wind was blowing, which at times proved troublesome, especially at tne 300 yards, where a failing light added to the diffi--1 culties of wind judgment. Brilliant shooting was recorded by Riflemen M. Hausmann and A. R. Symons, who made 103 and 102 respectively. The championship I resulted in wins for M. Hausmann (A grade), Ken. Romiey (B grade), A. Next Saturday the club will fire the final of the service championship and conclude the season’s competition programme. All members are requested to be present and have service sights on rifles and to attend the range at 1.15 p.m. sharp. National Party Euchre and Dance Gaily decqrated with artistic bright flowers and greenery, tlje stage in the Town Hall on Wednesday evening provided an attractive setting at a euchre and dance held by members of the local National Party branch. Many visitors were in attendance from all parts of the district. The M.C. for the evening was Mr. W. G. Romiey. Extra dance numbers were supplied by Mrs. O. Kerrigan. Cards held in the supper-room provided a pleasant entertainment for the non-dancers, the winners being Mrs. Walker and Mr. Greenhow. Novelty dances were an addeu attraction, a Monte Carlo waltz beingwon by Mr. C. Harcomb and Miss N. Me* Isaac. A lucky Gay Gordons was won by Mr. W. G. Romiey and Miss B. Romiey.
